Meet Your Candidates

We are educators, district parents, and community volunteers focused on meeting the needs of each and every student, always putting their needs first in our decision-making. As educators ourselves, we know that strong schools require strongly supported teachers and staff. We will always advocate for equitable policies and budgets that support the needs of students, educators, and families.

Ashley Fogarty

Ashley is a dedicated special educator and Saratoga native. She worked as the director of preschool for a local community organization running Universal Pre-K. In addition to her work with students, Ashley has volunteered with Special Olympics and iCan Bike.

Ashley and her husband returned to Saratoga to raise their daughter in a community that reflects their values.

With experience in the classroom, as an administrator, and as a special education advocate for students ages 3 to 21, she is committed to providing an excellent public education to each student. Ashley is ready to bring her passion and experience to the school board.

Leigh Wilton

A professor of Social Psychology at Skidmore, Leigh lives in Saratoga with her husband and 3 children.

A person of Puerto Rican and Jewish/Polish descent, she studies social identity and adults’ beliefs about child development.

She has served on a number of committees dedicated to education at Rutgers, Princeton, and Skidmore, and coaches her son’s soccer team. She spent 5 years working as a business consultant.

Leigh is passionate about building equitable, high quality, and inclusive schools, and will bring her expertise to support students, educators, and families in our community.

Natalya Lakhtakia

Natalya is a speech-language pathologist in the Fort Edward School District and proud union member (NYSUT). She lives in Saratoga Springs with her husband and third-grader.

The daughter of immigrants and from a family of educators, she was first elected to the Board of Education in 2019. She has served as vice president, and on board committees for finance and audit, policy, and superintendent evaluation, and on the district’s DEI and counseling committees.

Natalya has been active with Saratoga Stronger and Code Blue, and works with Skidmore’s Education Department to support future educators.
